From Antiquity to Modern Times the harbour of Mahon has been coveted prey by Mediterranean civilizations and naval powers (Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, Arabs, Spanish, British, French. . .). The Mahon Walking Tour takes you on a journey through time to learn about the fascinating history of the capital of Menorca and its port.
2 hr - Let me take you for a stroll through the streets of the gracious town of Mahon! Situated on high cliffs, overlooking one of the largest natural harbours of the Mediterranean, Mahon offers many spectacular viewpoints whereas its old town boast a melting pot of many historical buildings like the church of Saint Mary which treasures one of Europe's most important organs, the picturesque fish market and its buoyant tapas bar, the former Carmelite Cloister which houses the food market, the Oliver manor house with its unique murals, the Governor's Palace, first setting of the historic saga Master and Commander and the Teatro Principal, one the oldest active opera theatres of Europe.

Alvin is a local who has extensive prior experience as a tour guide in many other locations around the world, so he has a very well polished, professional yet very amiable style. He has knowledge of the history, architecture and present-day local personalities; we even got the privilege of meeting the local the rock-slinging champion! I highly recommend this tour.
Awesome walking tour, we have done walking tours in almost every city we have visited and this one was perfect. It was the right amount of history, fun stories, and current day information. Alvin answered all of our questions and then some. He was super quick to reach out after booking and confirm where we would meet, he even answered some unrelated questions about Mahon for the rest of our stay. We had a great time and learned so much. Alvin answered questions that our guides from previous days didn't have the answers for. The tour was 2 hours and covered a ton, I would book again without hesitation.
